The national TV crime show America's Most Wanted (AMW) is covering the disappearance of missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar.
The show apparently aired a smaller segment on the LaMar case, but is now looking to do a more in-depth story after detectives announced in March that the Sobrato High teen may have been Kidnapped, a KRCA article states.
The show's mission is to track down fugitives, and has apparently helped recover "dozens of missing people," the show's producer, Jocelyn Sigue told KTVU.
AMW crews attended a search party for Sierra on Wednesday and spent that time to conduct more interviews for their followup coverage, which is expected to air on May 11 on the Lifetime Channel, NBC reports.
"We wanted to get it on as quickly as we learned about it so we did just do one short story, but we felt this was a story that warranted more attention. Especially since it has gone on for so long that this child has been missing," Sigue states in a NBC article.
AMW crews told KTVU that they'll conduct searches for Sierra, and that the plan is to stay within a 20 mile radius.
"If she's not within the 20 miles, we need all the support we can to keep everybody focused and to keep their eyes and ears open," Brian Miller, who is coordinating the search for Sierra, told KTVU.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office is currently following . Personal items of Sierra's that were found a couple miles from the LaMar home shortly after the teen disappeared were sent to the crime lab for forensic testing in March and completed in April.
