Coroner Releases Name of Deceased Motorcyclist

The man was pronounced dead on scene after a Friday accident in Gilroy.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner has released the name of a motorcyclist who died after a Friday accident on southbound Highway 101 in Gilroy.

The man was 48-year-old Hollister resident, Ray Enriquez, according to the office.

A witness said the man swerved left from the slow lane and across the three-lane highway, colliding with the median near the Leavesley Avenue exit, said Gilroy firefighter/paramedic Heinz Maibaum. The accident was reported at 10:37 p.m.

The victim was found separated from the motorcycle and unconscious, he said. A crew from CalFire also responded and was the first to arrive and provide medical aid. The patient was declared dead on the scene.

The accident is still under investigation from both the coroner's office and the California Highway Patrol.
