Criminal Acts: Assault, Burglary and Cocaine

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Thursday through Sunday, from car accidents to burglaries to assaults. Here’s a selection from the latest press report. 

Sunday, Jan. 1
12:50 a.m.—A pedestrian was airlifted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle around the area of First and Hanna streets.

Saturday, Dec. 31
11 p.m.—A suspect caused $650 worth of damage after kicking open two doors to obtain his laptop.

7:30 p.m.—A victim’s 1995 Honda Civic was stolen out of his driveway by an unknown suspect. The vehicle and suspect are still outstanding.

2:15 p.m.—A business on E. Tenth Street was burglarized after a 28-year-old male stole almost $400 worth of hygienic products and a pair of headphones.

11 a.m.—A residence on Forest Street was burglarized after unknown suspect(s) entered through an open sliding glass door. The suspects fled the residence in an unknown direction with a $400 laptop.

Friday, Dec. 30
Unknown suspect(s) opened several credit card accounts in the Victim’s name in Gilroy.

10:32 a.m.—Two adult males were found to be in possession of 2.54 grams of cocaine after they were pulled over for a traffic violation on Forest Street and IOOF Avenue.

Thursday, Dec. 29

11 p.m.—A business on Arroyo Circle was burglarized after unknown suspect(s) gained entry through a smashed glass door and stole several items. The stolen items amount to approximately $12,000.

2 p.m.—A man contacted a few victims who were playing basketball at Gilroy High School, and assaulted one of them while they were shooting hoops. The suspect put one of the victims in a choke hold until be became unconscious. The victim was unconscious for several seconds, and then the victims fled.

12:30 p.m.—A vehicle on San Ysidro Avenue was burglarized. The suspect(s) shattered a window of the car while it was parked in the Denny’s parking lot, and stole an unloaded shotgun from the rear compartment. The gun and vehicle are registered out of Washington.

6:55 a.m.—A residence on Peterson Drive was burglarized after the suspect(s) gained entry through the side garage door. Electronic equipment and jewelry valued at $5,000 were stolen. There are no suspects at this time.

Wednesday, Dec. 21
8 a.m.—A victim had his credit card account accessed by an unknown suspect who made purchases in Los Angeles. He had over $644 charged to his account. There isn’t any information about the suspect at this time.
