Criminal Acts: Assault, Threat and Burglary

It's been a busy week for the officers of the Gilroy Police Department.

It's been a busy week for the Gilroy Police Department, with suspects evading arrest, an attempted stabbing and burglary consuming the week thus far.

Although more than a handful of incidents have taken place, Patch sifted through the reports and found a few that looked particularly interesting. Check them out, below.

Thursday, Oct. 27
12:28 a.m.—A man and woman were arguing over a cell phone on Wren Avenue when the confrontation became violent. The victim reported that the man, her ex-boyfriend, had punched her in the face four to five times, according to the Gilroy Police Department press report.

Wednesday, Oct. 26
2:08 p.m.—George Luna, 50, was arrested on suspicion of theft, after he tried to leave a San Ysidro Avenue store with over $650 worth of items. Luna was observed placing the items in his cart and then covering them up in attempts to conceal them.

8:30 a.m.—A commercial burglary took place at a business located on E. Tenth Street. The unknown suspect shattered the front glass door, and also shattered the display glass. A vacuum cleaner inbox, three nail-drying lamps and a bag of quarters were stolen. In total the burglary and damage to the business amounts to a loss of over $900.

Tuesday, Oct. 25
1:33 a.m.—A man threatened to shoot a woman, and then began chasing her down First Street. No weapon was every seen and the case appears to be under investigation.
