Criminal Acts: Break-ins, Assaults and Drugs

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Monday through Thursday, including the armed robbery of two teenagers as they were walking home Monday night. Here’s a selection from the latest press report.

Wednesday, Feb. 15

9:35 p.m.—During a domestic argument on Kern Ave., a woman bit a man multiple times on his arm, causing bruising.

8:30 p.m.—The victim picked up the suspect, her daughter, from the Monterey County Jail and was giving her a ride home when an argument ensued. The daughter spit on her mother, dumped soda on her and threw her cell phone out of the moving vehicle. The mother is requesting prosecution.

1:39 p.m.—A man attempted to steal a Harry Potter video game cartridge from the Costco on Camino Arroyo. He dumped it before exiting the store but provided false information to security and police. The man also did not have a Costco membership and was trespassing. He is on probation and was transported to Santa Clara County Jail.

8:39 a.m.—Police arrested a 51-year-old man for cutting the wires and copper lines out of street lights on First Street. The arrestee attempted to flee and resisted arrest.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

2:30 p.m.—A female minor left a store on First Street with a bottle of Jagermeister liquor concealed in her jacket. She was placed under citizen’s arrest by security and was found to have a warrant for violation of parole.

12:45 p.m.—The suspect grabbed two iPhones from a store display on San Ysidro Avenue and took off with them. The suspect was last seen running south through the parking lot of the outlets.

12:40 p.m.—A student battered another student on campus at a school on Day Road.

11:10 a.m.—A student battered another student on campus at a school on Day Road. 

10:48 a.m.—An unknown number of suspects entered a car on Fourth Street and stole the vehicle’s registration and other documents.

9:38 a.m.—A suspect stole sunglasses, ear buds, a wallet with cash and a car radar detector from an unlocked vehicle on Hollyhock Lane. The suspect then went to Salinas where they used a credit card at a Shell gas station, Jack in the Box and Home Depot.

Monday, Feb. 13

6:43 p.m.—A driver was stopped for a vehicle code infraction on El Cerrito Way and Parish Way. They were cited for not having a license and being in possession of marijuana under one ounce.

2:00 p.m.—One student punched another student while they were at school on Day Road.

2:00 p.m.—An ex-boyfriend and girlfriend were involved in an altercation during a child custody exchange on Leavesley Rd.

1:00 p.m.—An unknown number of suspects entered a residence on Pappani Avenue through an unlocked rear window and stole a $1,500 computer and other items.

11:36 a.m.—A student at a school on Carmel Street was cited for possession of marijuana.

11:00 a.m.—An unknown suspect removed several items, including a boom box, from a car on Hanna Street on two separate nights. The car was unlocked the first night and locked the second night.

7:45 a.m.—A suspect fled the scene of a hit and run traffic collision on Welburn Avenue and Wren Avenue The victim sustained minor injuries. No suspect information is available.
