Criminal Acts: Third Grader Injures Students with Blade

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

The responded to a variety of calls between April 24 and May 7. Most prominent among them were burglaries and car thefts. Here's a selection from the latest press report.

May 7

2:43 a.m.—Unknown suspect(s) used a river rock to break the rear glass window on the victim’s vehicle, causing $500 in damage. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction and are still outstanding.

May 6

8:20 p.m.—A 18-year-old male was arrested for suspicion of causing approximately $1,000 worth of damage to three vehicles located on Eigleberry and Fifth streets.

10:40 p.m.—A male suspect assaulted his mother on Eigleberry Street and broke her cell phone, preventing her from calling the police.

May 5

5:45 a.m.—A vehicle was burglarized on Monterey Street, near the rear of Rio Nilo. Possible suspects have been identified and an investigation is underway. Among the items stolen from the car were a $600 Bebe brand purse and a $60 Guess brand wallet.

6:45 a.m.—Unknown suspect(s) entered a hotel room on Monterey Street and stole several items, including $10,000 in jewelry, $800 in luggage and $500 in cash. There are currently no suspects, evidence or witnesses.

11:20 p.m.—Unknown suspect(s) broke the window of a Ford on Monterey Street to steal a purse sitting on the passenger side seat in plain view. The purse contained several items of value, including $200 worth of makeup and two pairs of sunglasses worth $367.

May 4

4:40 p.m.—A 30-year-old man was arrested after a resident on Martin Street spotted him in his backyard. The resident had just discovered that his home had been burglarized. Pacheco is on probation and was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail. Among the items taken from the residence were $2,500 in jewelry, an assortment of tools and a dagger.

11:03 p.m.—A female victim reported that her husband made threats against her life. The incident happened on Festa Aglio Drive. The case has been sent to the Santa Clara County District Attorney for review.  

May 3

12:20 p.m.—An unknown suspect attempted to run over the victim with his car near Church Street and W. Sixth Street.

9:30 p.m.—The teenage suspects were arrested along with another subject for being found inside a vacant residence on Tennyson Drive. The quartet entered the residence by breaking a kitchen window valued at $300.

May 2

1:19 a.m.—Two female suspects and one male suspect were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. One of them was also arrested for being in possession of a firearm.

10:37 a.m.—A third grader at a school on Cimino Street reportedly scratched three other students with the blade from a pencil sharpener.

11:10 a.m.—A suspect ran out of a store on E. Tenth Street with a cordless tool kit valued at $200, and got into a waiting car. The car is described as a 1990s model red Ford Mustang convertible with chrome rims that has a black center section.

7:05 p.m.—An unknown number of suspects entered a residence on Kelton Drive and stole 14 items from a locked safe. Most of the items were jewelry but also included medicine and the resident’s rent money.

8:10 p.m.—A 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of entering the Walmart on Camino Arroyo and exiting the store with merchandise she didn't pay for. Two hypodermic needles and spoons containing residue were found in the woman's backpack and she was placed on parole hold.

11:23 p.m.—The reporting party parked his 1993 Chevy Suburban in front of 880 El Cerrito Way at 6 p.m. When he returned at 11:23 p.m., his car was gone. All keys are accounted for.

May 1

5:29 p.m.—A 26-year-old man was arrested on charges of embezzlement. The suspect has stolen merchandise from the Target store on Camino Arroyo, and allowed friends to steal merchandise, over the last five months. Total losses, which include two Apple iPads, an LG cell phone and an Acer Netbook, are estimated at $2,700.

12:53 p.m.—A man took his dogs for a walk, only to return home 45 minutes later to find that his rear kitchen window was open and the screen was missing. A 40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with three 10 round magazines, valued at $600, was missing from his home as well as a $500 U.S. Marine Corps ring and $5 in miscellaneous U.S. coins.

April 30

12:01 a.m.—A red motorcycle was stolen from 9050 Kern Avenue.

April 28

1:30 p.m.—A red truck and trailer were stolen from the parking lot at 6390 Chestnut Street.

April 27

7 p.m.—A green Cadillac was stolen from Camino Arroyo.

3:57 p.m.—A burglar broke into a business on Monterey Street, first disabling the door chime and then re-entering to steal a watch off the counter. The business owner did not notice the watch, a $1,500 men’s stainless steel Rolex, missing until a few days later.

April 24

12 p.m.—Unknown suspect(s) stole a $2,000 platinum ring from a victim’s nightstand on Leavesley Road. The ring contains a sapphire gem and diamonds. There are no suspect(s), evidence or witnesses at this time.
