Criminal Acts: Burglary and Assault

The mother of a 12-year-old was badly beaten, and a suspect escaped with over $6,000 worth of jewelry from a gold outlet store.

It's been a busy week for the Gilroy Police Department, with countless acts of residential and commercial burglaries, as well as brutal assaults.

Although more than a handful of incidents have taken place, Patch sifted through the reports and found a few that looked particularly dangerous. Check them out, below.

Monday, Nov. 7
7:03 p.m.—An unknown suspect entered the gold outlet store on Arroyo Circle and left with thousands of dollars worth of stolen jewelry. The suspect stole a pair of earrings and a necklace with a pendant, worth a combined $6,487. The suspect is wanted for grand theft.

4:32 p.m.—Issac Almanza, 32, was seen walking around the area of E. Eighth and Forest streets while smoking marijuana. He was with his three children. After officers contacted Almanza, they found him to be in possession of methamphetamine, and he was arrested.

Monday, Oct. 31

4:35 p.m.—A suspect entered a resident’s vehicle on Riverview Circle and stole hundreds of dollars worth of items, including the victim’s garage door opener. The suspect returned to the residence later in the day and began searching the secondary vehicle parked in the residents’ garage. The victims then came out of the house and entered the garage to find the suspect. One of the victims pursued the fleeing suspect on foot and tried to detain her, but released her after she bit him.

The suspect fled the scene, and was last seen eastbound on Luchessa Avenue. She escaped with $2,800 worth of stolen items. The burglary is currently under investigation.

3:24 p.m.—Jose Cervantes beat the mother of his 12-year-old child on Monte Bello Drive. Cervantes reportedly kneed, punched, kicked and pulled the victim’s hair.
