Criminal Acts: Carjacking, Fraud and Assault

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Monday through Thursday, from car accidents to thefts to assault. Here’s a selection from the latest press report. 

Wednesday, Jan. 11
7 p.m.—An unknown suspect gained entry to a locked vehicle in the St. Mary’s Church parking lot, and accessed the victim’s wallet and personal information from the trunk.

11:12 p.m.—A stolen vehicle was recovered on Monterey Street.

10:40 p.m.—An unknown suspect installed a credit card skimmer on the gas pumps at the Chevron located on Westwood Drive.

3:20 p.m.—Victims reported that an unknown suspect had been making charges on their Bank of the West debit card every month since Oct. 2010. The victims hadn’t been reviewing their monthly statements.

3:12 p.m.—Unknown suspects pulled off the screens of the windows of a residence on Taos way and stole hundreds of dollars worth of items.

1:03 p.m.—A residence on Princevalle Street was burglarized. Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through the unlocked garage door and removed two flat-screen televisions.

Tuesday, Jan. 10
4:23 p.m.—Unknown suspect(s) broke into a victim’s car on Rosanna Street and stole some property, including a debit card. The victim later determined that the suspect(s) had made fraudulent charges on the card.

3 p.m.—An unknown suspect stole a vehicle that was parked in front of the victim’s residence on Walnut Lane. The victim had left the keys in the ignition.

12:07 a.m.—A 25-year-old man carjacked a vehicle. Police initiated a vehicle pursuit around the area of Chestnut and Martin Streets, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Monday, Jan. 9
3:06 p.m.—A male juvenile was arrested after assaulting another juvenile and causing moderate head injuries.

12:01 a.m.—Unknown suspects used a victim’s credit card number to purchase a computer.

12:01 a.m.—A 2007, Beige Toyota Corolla was stolen from Gilroy Toyota. The suspect(s) are unknown at this time. The vehicle’s license plate is 5YEE522.

Sunday, Jan. 8
1 p.m.—A house on Church Street was burglarized. Almost $800 worth of electronics were stolen.

Wednesday, Jan. 4
12:27 a.m.—Unknown suspects stole over $2,000 worth of merchandise from the locked containers of a business on First Street. The suspects appeared to be driving a 1990’s, white-colored, two-door Chevrolet Ford Bronco with no license plate.
