Criminal Acts: Counterfeit Bills and Indecent Exposure

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Thursday through Sunday, from car accidents to thefts to graffiti. Here’s a selection from the latest press report. 

Monday, Jan. 23
12:05 a.m.—A stolen vehicle was recovered around the area of Hoover Court and Rogers Lane with the suspects inside. The three individuals were subsequently arrested.

Saturday, Jan. 21
8 p.m.—A family had rocks and other objects thrown at their vehicle as they were attempting to flee from a group of suspects. An altercation reportedly erupted around the area of W. Eighth and Hanna Streets and the family fled in a vehicle. The read window of the family’s vehicle was shattered by a rock that almost hit a juvenile who was sitting in the passenger compartment. The suspects are still outstanding.

5:50 p.m.—A victim sent a $1,000 check to a suspect in Nigeria via Western Union money transfer.

4 p.m.—A 47-year-old man who was on parole for sex crimes was arrested after he was seen openly masturbating around the area of Leavesly Road.

1:32 a.m.—A business on Chestnut street was burglarized after unknown suspect(s) forced their way in through the roof hatch. Around $500 worth of computer electronics were stolen.

Friday, Jan. 20
4:08 p.m.—A driver ditched his car after losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a tree on Santa Paula Drive. After the driver fled, he reported the car stolen to GPD, but later confessed he was the driver after officers prompted him to be honest.

2:55 p.m.—A counterfeit $20 bill was used to purchase goods on Rosanna Street.

5 a.m.—Two unknown males attempted to gain entry into a residence on East Las Animas Avenue by removing the wood that was securing the door and then ramming the door with a large wooden beam.

Wednesday, Dec. 18
A victim on Redwood Lane reported unauthorized charges on his debit card, and believes they came from an unknown location overseas.
