Criminal Acts: Child Abuse, Battery and Identity Theft

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls that range from vehicle thefts and battery, to child abuse and identify theft. Here’s a selection from the latest press report.

Thursday, Dec. 15
12:01 a.m.—A 23-year-old male was arguing with his girlfriend in his vehicle that was parked around the area of Eigleberry and West Seventh streets. During the argument, the male punched his girlfriend, subsequently breaking her nose and causing her to blackout. The male was arrested for battery and driving under the influence.

Wednesday, Dec. 14
5:20 p.m.—An adult male residing at a residence on Kern Avenue hit his son with a belt and left a visible injury. The victim was removed from the home and placed into a shelter. The incident has been referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

3:30 p.m.—A 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested for violating a mutual no contact restraining order. The pair was around the area of Miller Avenue and Uvas Park Drive when they got into an argument and each threw a rock at each other. Both parties were arrested and transported to county jail.

7:50 a.m.—A woman had her 1995 black Honda Accord stolen. She parked the locked vehicle in front of 8200 Kern Avenue and found it missing the next morning. No suspect(s) were seen or heard.

Monday, Dec. 12

4:38 p.m.—An incident of identity theft occurred after a suspect used a victim’s social security number to obtain a Sprint account and Dish network in Utah.

3:41 p.m.—A 25-year-old male was attempting to sell methamphetamine around the area of Monterey Street and Welburn Avenue.

8:50 a.m.—Two suspects stole generator cables worth $1,200 and sold them to a local recycling center. Both suspects have been identified.

Saturday, Dec. 10

10 a.m.—An incident of petty theft occurred near the area of Fairview Drive. Eight hundred dollars worth of tools were stolen.

Friday, Dec. 9

5:35 p.m.—A victim’s credit card account was accessed by an overseas company that made an unauthorized purchase.
