Criminal Acts: Knife on School Grounds, Child Abuse and Assault

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Thursday through Sunday, from car accidents to thefts to graffiti. Here’s a selection from the latest press report.

April 22
2 p.m.—An adult female was arrested for attempting to steal four bottles of Cognac from the Walmart on Camino Arroyo.

April 21
11 p.m.—A 20-year-old male was arrested for brandishing a knife at an individual in a threatening manner. While the suspect was being arrested, police found a concealed dagger on him.

10: 14 p.m.—A 24-year-old male was cited for driving without a license and for being in possession of paraphernalia.

8:57 p.m.—A victim was struck by a vehicle as he was attempting to stop a female suspect who stole merchandise from a store on Arroyo Circle. When the victim was standing by the suspect’s car to stop her, the suspect put the car in reverse and hit the victim with the open driver’s side car door.

5:49 p.m.—A verbal argument on Gaunt Avenue escalated into one person being struck by a vehicle that was traveling at a very low speed. During the course of the situation, another individual threw a rock at the suspect’s vehicle, breaking the front window shield, and then fled.

11 a.m.—An adult male was arrested for attempting to steal an adult magazine from a store on Forest street.

4:30 a.m.—A suspect slapped a female victim at a residence on Chestnut Street during an argument. The suspect also pulled the victim by her hair and threw a TV remote control at her head. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

April 20
11:25 a.m.—Two juveniles were arrested on Grenache Way for being in possession of a concealed knife/dagger on school grounds.

April 19
5 p.m.—A person was arrested on suspicion of child abuse. The suspect came to Gilroy to get the victim and broke a window after becoming upset. The suspect then tried to pull the victim our of the broken window near the broken glass.

April 12
12:25 p.m.—A male used fraudulent credit cards to purchase two televisions from a store on E. Tenth Street. The TVs were over $1,000 each.

April 7
8 a.m.—An unknown suspect accessed the victim’s checking account and wrote unauthorized checks totalling over one thousand dollars. The victim couldn’t provide any suspect information.
