Criminal Acts: Meth Possession, Child Abuse, Assault of a Pregnant Woman

A woman was self-transported to the hospital after having contractions as the result of a physical altercation with her boyfriend.

It's been a busy week for the Gilroy Police Department, with multiple acts of domestic violence, assault and drug possession. 

Although more than a handful of incidents have taken place, Patch sifted through the reports and found a few that looked particularly interesting. Check them out, below.

Thursday, Nov. 29
5 p.m.—A 46-year-old Gilroy resident was reportedly carjacked by two unknown suspects at the Nob Hill Foods store on First Street. The suspects provided the victim directions to a location where he could purchase them food and then transport them to an unknown location along New Avenue. The suspects asked the victim to transport marijuana for them, and when he declined a suspect punched him in the face multiple times. Both suspects were males, but other descriptors are not available at this time. The incident is currently under investigation.

Wednesday, Nov. 28
12:01 p.m.—An unknown male entered the backroom of a business on Leavesley Road, and stole a deposit bag from the safe that contained thousands of dollars.

Tuesday, Nov. 27
5:30 p.m.—Edmund Solorzano, 40, was arrested for resisting arrest. An officer saw Solorzano and recognized him as a wanted person from a previous parole violation. After the officer attempted to contact Solorzano, he fled and officers subsequently found him hiding in a residence on Gary Street, Sgt. Gallacinao said. During the search of the residence, police found Daniel Caspary, 37, who was also determined to have a couple of warrants out for his arrest.

5:15 p.m.—Unknown suspects pried the latch to the scorers booth at the Gilroy High School baseball field and stole the baseball team’s equipment.

12:39 p.m.—Sabrina Gonzalez Rodriguez, 39, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse, after a physical altercation erupted at a residence on Murray Avenue, an a kid under the age of 18 was subsequently injured, Sgt. Gallacinao said. The kid received non-life threatening injuries that didn’t require immediate attention. The incident is being jointly investigated by Child Protective Services.

2:10 a.m. —Marisa Sirena Garcia, 22, was  arrested for resisting arrest after officers responded to the report of a fight in progress at her residence on the 200 block of Farrel Avenue. Officers located Garcia and determined that she appeared to have been involved in the fight, Sgt. Gallacinao said. After responding officers attempted to contact her, she fled to a nearby residence. Officers followed Garcia to the residence and during contact with her, the arrestee became uncooperative and compromised the safety of the officers. She was subsequently arrested for delaying officers, Gallacinao said.

12:07 a.m. — Jose Alberto Rosales, 33, and Dolores Maria Saldana, 40, were arrested on Farrel Avenue for possession of drug paraphernalia and for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Police suspected that Rosales was under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant, and found Saldana to be in possession of a meth-smoking pipe. A second female was also in the vehicle, and was found to in possession of stolen credit cards.

Sunday, Nov. 25
9 p.m.—A juvenile was arrested after becoming combative and punching a staff member three times. Staff members of Rebekah’s Children Home were attempting to assist the juvenile to her room when the juvenile became combative. The arrestee was taken to her room after staff subdued her. After her arrest, she was  released back to staff.

12:05 a.m.—A victim was transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital after sustaining traumatic injuries from her live-in boyfriend on Princevalle Street.

Saturday, Nov. 24
 8:30 p.m.—Tim Shimabukuro, 45, was arrested for the possession of narcotics for the purpose of sale, after he was pulled over for a registration violation around the area of Lewis and Railroad streets. When police pulled Shimabukuro over, they also determined that he was on probation, and further found him to be in possession of 7.44 grams of methamphetamine. The meth was divided into five plastic baggies.

The division of the meth into baggies was an indicator of suspected drug sale, along with a cell phone that police suspect was used to facilitate transactions, said Sgt. Gallacinao. Gallacinao also said that Shimabukuro had over $300 in cash that was in different denominations. The suspect has been sent to county jail.
