Criminal Acts: School Vandalism, Abandoned Puppy and Embezzlement

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Sunday through Wednesday, from car accidents to thefts to graffiti. Here’s a selection from the latest press report.

Wednesday, Feb. 22
11:40 p.m.—A man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of sale after a search was conducted of his car. The suspect was initially pulled over for a traffic violation around the area of Alexander and Lewis streets.

9:16 p.m.—There was a DUI crash involving four cars on Kern Avenue. There were no injuries.

4:30 p.m.—A man was arrested for assault on Kelton Drive after becoming violent when his family members began discussing his drug problem. The arrestee pushed his wife down to the ground and was sitting on her, demanding the car keys. The arrestee’s brother pulled him off the victim, and then the arrestee knocked the phone out of his wife’s hand as she was attempting to call police.

Tuesday, Feb. 21
5:38 p.m.—A 18-year-old Target employee was arrested for stealing several electronics from the store on Camino Arroyo. In total, the employee stole over $1,300 in merchandise.

5:14 p.m.—A sick puppy was left at the Princevalle pet hospital on First Street for treatment.

5:10 p.m.—An unknown suspect used a victim’s social security number to obtain credit and purchase a car.

5 p.m.—Unknown suspect broke the windows to a school building on IOOF Avenue and spray painted graffiti on the courtyard wall. In total, the damage amounts to $400.

2:50 p.m.—A woman stole over $1,000 worth in sunglasses from a store on Leavesley Road.

Monday, Feb. 20
4:16 p.m.—An adult male was arrested around the area of Eigleberry and Fourth streets after police determined that he was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Thursday, Feb. 16
12:01 a.m.—An adult male was assaulted by unknown suspects on Carmel Street.

Thursday, Feb. 2
12 p.m.—A 19-year-old male was arrested for embezzlement after he stole money from employee lockers and took merchandise from a business located on Camino Arroyo. The suspect also had a bottle of Vicodin with no prescription.
