Criminal Acts: Tagging on City Property, Residential Burglaries

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department for July 2-5. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Robbery

  • 10 p.m.— A man was reported he was robbed of his wallet in the area of Eight and Chestnut St.

Tresspassing

  • 8:49 p.m.— A man was trespassing on the property on Old Gilroy Street and started to set up living quarters. He was cited and released at the scene.

Graffiti

  • 12:06 p.m.—A man was seen tagging a city light pole on W. Tenth Street. He was located in the area and taken into custody.

Petty Theft

  • 4:30 a.m. — A woman was arrested for stealing an iPod dock and a portable DVD player.
  • 5:41 p.m. — Store security observed the suspect conceal store items and later leave the store without paying. The suspect was later confronted when he fled the scene and is still outstanding.

Auto Burglary

  • 7:30 p.m.—The victim’s vehicle was burglarized when an unknown suspect forced entry by smashing the right front passenger window, later removing several personal items. The suspect is still outstanding at this time.
  • 7:30 p.m.— A vehicle window was smashed at 8300 Arroyo Circle. A gym bag full of miscellaneous items were taken from the vehicle.

Residential Burglary

  • 11:50 p.m.—Suspect jimmied the slider window open and entered the residence on Rosanna Street.
  • 3:20 p.m. —Unknown suspect cut the fence to a locked area and stole a tricycle.

Narcotics

  • 11:19 a.m..—A man was found wandering through apartment complexes and following people up the stairs. He displayed objective symptoms of drug intoxication and was taken into custody. He had in his possession a glass pipe and small baggie containing what appeared to be cocaine.

Suspended License

  • 11:00 p.m.—A male subject was arrested for driving with a suspended license. The suspect was cited and released.

Assualt

  • 11:35 p.m.—A male and female subject were involved in a domestic disturbance. Both claimed to be assaulted by the other party.

Vandalism

  • 11:54 p.m.—An unknown male wanted to use the restroom of a business after the business was closed. The male kicked the front door and dislodged the glass from the doorframe. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Missing Juvenile

  • 3:15 a.m..— A female juvenile ran away from home after an argument with her mother.

Also, it would take some work but couldn't the books be divided up and put into the classrooms? OrRead More is it because they were bought as library books with the library grant they have to stay in the library. It will be very embarrassing to tell book vendors that Luigi Aprea does not have a library anymore.

I don't know why the parents club can't run the library. They would have to be trained with theRead More computer library program but I'm sure there would be parents that would be willing to do that. It is very sad that just because we can't hire a librarian that the students have to loose out. That does not seem fair to me. I thought the students were supposed to come first and not be denied services due to a budget shortfall. We were promised that the budget would not effect the classroom. I guess in this case the union is more powerful than necessary. So all those books are going to collect dust. How sad and unacceptable.

That this person actually thought this poor young girl had culpability for her attack is a symptom of our societies disregard for women. I'm actually glad he made the comment so we can look at and discuss the problem.

From one of the interviews I watched online, it seems that many Saratoga High students knew whatRead More happened at the party and had seen the pictures. How is it that arrests did not follow the assault and the suicide for over 6 months? Could it be that the students who knew information about the felony chose to remain silent? I hope that is not the case; we will surely find out as the details of the case are revealed in the media over the next weeks and months. In the meantime lets make sure we are teaching our kids about the responsibility of living in community and caring about others. God forbid that any of the students have to live with the knowledge that they could have prevented the suicide, or with the knowledge that they helped cover up such a heinous crime.
