Criminal Acts: Thieving Accountant and Wine-Bottle Assault

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Thursday through Sunday, from car accidents to thefts to graffiti. Here’s a selection from the latest press report.

Wednesday, March 7
8:13 p.m.—A victim had both of his bikes stolen that were parked outside the Wienerschnitzel by two suspects. The victim gave chase and called the police for help. One of the bikes was ditched and recovered, but the other one remains outstanding.

2:14 p.m.—A five-year-old child was injured after a hit-and-run collision around the area of Church and Fourth streets.

Tuesday, March 6
5:25 p.m.—A person received a large package of marijuana delivered from FedEx to her business on Arroyo Circle. The package contained two sealed packs of marijuana, and was addressed to an unknown recipient.

7:45 a.m.—After a vehicle collision on Church Street, the suspect fled the scene and the victim gave chase. The chase ended with the victim being struck by the side-view mirror of the suspect’s car.

Sunday, March 4
1:34 p.m.—A victim was shot with an unknown type of firearm on Monte Bello Drive. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

1 a.m.—Unknown suspects broke into an office on Swantson Lane and stole several vehicle keys and a jacket. The suspects then stole the company car from the parking lot. The suspects are still at large.

12:15 a.m.—Police responded to Swanston Lane on the report of a man with a knife. As police attempted to arrest the man, he resisted arrest. Police later determined that he had punched a family member in the face.

Saturday, March 3
11:58 p.m.—A male was arrested during a traffic stop. Officers found that he had 1.19 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.

11:56 p.m.—Unknown suspects broke into a business located on San Ysidro Avenue and stole approximately $2,500. There are no suspects or witnesses.

7:30 p.m.—A male was stopped around the area of First Street and Wren Avenue for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, police determined that he had approximately half an ounce of methamphetamine on him. The drug was packaged, and an electronic scale was also in his possession.

Friday, March 2
11:30 p.m.—A blue, 1998 Honda Civic was stolen from an area around Monterey and First streets.

2:28 p.m.—A 29-year-old male was observed punching his girlfriend in the stomach at an area around Church and Sixth streets. He was arrested and later transported to county jail.

1:32 p.m.—A unknown suspect reached into the back seat of a vehicle parked on El Cerrito Way and stole a diaper bag.

12:01 a.m. A suspect was using a victim’s business name to collect money.

Thursday, March 1
8:30 p.m.—Unknown suspects walked into a store located on Westwood Drive and emptied the cash register as the store employees were in the back room. The suspects were caught in the act, and fled the scene with the store employees chasing him.

11:18 a.m.—A son assaulted his father with a wine bottle. The 20-year-old suspect was transported to county jail.

6:20 a.m.—A search warrant was served at a residence on Lewis Street, and police seized narcotics and indicia.

6:17 a.m.—A search warrant was served, and a 35-year-old woman was arrested on Wren Avenue for various narcotic-related offenses.

Wednesday, Feb. 29
5 p.m—The suspect who filed taxes for the victim never returned the victim’s tax refund. The IRS reported that a check for $4,400 had been cashed, and requested a police report.

Monday, Feb. 27
4:48 p.m.—Two suspects used $100 counterfeit bills to purchase over $800 worth of items from Marshall's. They then fled the scene without being caught.

Saturday, Feb. 25
12:01 a.m.—A unknown suspect used a person’s debit card to make online purchases.

Wednesday, Feb. 22
1 p.m.—A victim’s bank account was accessed by an unknown suspect, who used it to transfer money from the victim’s account. The investigation is ongoing.
