Criminal Acts: Victim Fights Back—and Wins

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Sunday through Thursday, from car accidents to thefts to graffiti. Here’s a selection from the latest press report.

Thursday, March 15
7:32 a.m.—A suitcase containing woman’s clothing was found on Carmel street.

Wednesday, March 14
6:48 p.m.—A male used a baseball bat to break the windshield of a victim’s vehicle because he thought the victims were following him.

10:10 a.m.—Two female students were cited for assaulting other students on campus.

Tuesday, March 13
1 p.m.—A male reported that his car was stolen from his driveway on Birdsong Street.

Monday, March 12
11:45 p.m.—Unknown suspects pried open the window of a business located on Garlic Farm Way and stole between $300 and 600 in quarters from the laundry room.

10:29 p.m.—A 35-year-old male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia around the area of Church and First streets.

11 a.m.—Two unknown females attempted to take the victim’s purse by force around the area of Rogers Lane and Sixth Street. The victim defended herself by striking one of the suspects and causing her to fall on her back on the ground. The second suspect then attended to the first suspect while the victim gathered her belongings. The two suspects fled.

Sunday, March 11
6 a.m.—Unknown suspects caused almost $2,000 in damage after tampering with a victim’s vehicle ignition and ransacking the attached trailer.

Tuesday, March 6
8:40 a.m.—A business on Kern Avenue was burglarized after an unknown suspect made a hole in the roof of a storage shed to gain entry and steal property.

Friday, March 2
12:01 a.m.—An unknown suspect used the victim’s email account to request the transfer of $27,000 from the victim’s bank account to an account in Seattle.

Thursday, Dec. 15
12:01 a.m.—A suspect left a fake California Drivers License on Eagle Hill Way that depicted the suspect’s photo but detailed another person’s personal information.
