Criminal Acts: Multiple Assaults, Including Battery of a Police Officer

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Sunday through Thursday, from stolen vehicles to thefts to graffiti. Here’s a selection from the latest press report. 

Wednesday, April 11
5:25 p.m.—A hit-and-run occurred around the area of Kern and Welburn avenues. A driver hit another car as he was pulling away from the curb, and then made a u-turn and drove away. The driver was later located and admitted to hitting the other vehicle.

4:30 p.m.—A victim was assaulted and robbed by five to six unknown suspects around the area of Church and Eleventh streets. The suspects took the victim's iPhone, valued at $800. The suspects have not been identified.

4:10 p.m.—An abandoned wheelchair was found at the Gilroy Premium Outlets and turned into the police department.

Tuesday, April 10
5:53 p.m.—Suspects stole almost one thousand dollars worth of “Ricky Super Jeans” from a store on Arroyo Circle. The suspects are still outstanding.

12:30 p.m.—A third party reported that a child was being punished with a belt by a suspect.

2:47 a.m.—A 42-year-old woman was arrested for resisting arrest, for battery of a police officer, attempting to take away the officer’s firearm and for taking the officer’s pepper spray from his holster. The incident occurred after a short foot pursuit on Hanna Street.

Monday, April 9
9:19 p.m.—A victim was approached around the area of First and Hanna streets by a group of juveniles. One of the juveniles punched the victim in the face and stole his cell phone.

2:27 p.m.—A person attempted to use a $100 counterfeit bill at the Timberland Outlet on Leavesley Road.  

Friday, April 6
6 p.m.—Unknown person(s) etched graffiti in the rear windows of 15 school buses on Swanston Lane. The vandals caused over $3,000 in damage.
