The car left the roadway, crashed into a guardrail, rolled over several times and landed on its roof.

A Hollister woman died in a solo accident Thursday in Gilroy after her car veered off of U.S. Highway 101, overturned repeatedly and came to rest on its roof, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 26-year-old woman, identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Sarah Coffman, was driving a 2006 Toyota Scion north on the highway north of Leavesley Road in Gilroy at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when she made an unsafe turn and lost control, CHP officials said.

The car left the roadway headed in a northeasterly direction, crashed into a guardrail, rolled over several times and landed on its roof on Las Animas Avenue at No Name Uno, according to the CHP. Coffman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP, which is investigating the accident.
