Fire Burns up to 50 Acres in Morgan Hill

Around 100 firefighters joined together to fight the blaze.

Firefighters contained a large grass fire burning in Morgan Hill this evening that threatened homes on the east side of the city, a fire captain said.

The 40- to 50-acre grass fire posed a threat to homes near McDonald Lane and Diana Avenue, which is east of U.S. Highway 101 not far from the Dunne Avenue exit, Capt. Mary Gutierrez said.

Helicopters and planes dropped water on the blaze, which was fully contained by about 7:15 p.m., at least two hours after firefighters first responded to the scene, Gutierrez said.
