Fire Spreads to Three Vehicles Wednesday

The cause is still under investigation.

Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding a fire early Wednesday that burned three vehicles near a Gilroy apartment complex, according to Cliff Colyer, Gilroy Fire Department engineer.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 7240 East St. at 1:45 a.m.

Two of the three vehicles, all parked near one another, were severely damaged, he said.

Nearby buildings were considered at-risk from the flames, and all three of Gilroy’s fire stations responded to the incident.

Preliminary investigation found that the fire began in the first vehicle’s engine compartment, the engineer said.
