Gilroy Boxer Arrested for Trying to Bring Gun on Plane

Robert "Ghost" Guerrero was taken into custody at JFK airport in New York City on Thursday.

The man known as "Ghost" could not slip by airport security unnoticed in New York City on Thursday.

Robert Guerrero, the professional boxer from Gilroy who has amassed a stellar 31-1-1 career record with 18 knockouts, was arrested at JFK airport for attempting to bring a gun on an airplane.

According to ESPN, Guerrero had an unloaded pistol and three unloaded high-capacity bullet magazines in his bag.

CBS reported that although Guerrero presented the gun to security in a locked gun box, because the weapon is registered in California, not New York, it was not legal to carry in the state. 

He was released within hours but must appear in court on May 14 and faces up to four years in prison.

The boxer was on his way to Las Vegas to train for his next fight, according to CBS.
