Gilroy Police Arrest Suspect From Last Month's Violent Robbery

The suspect, 18-year-old Michael Velasquez, was arrested during the serving of a warrant on Saturday.

A man suspected of being involved in a violent robbery on the 7100 block of Church Street that left a man clinging to life last month is now in custody, according to press release from the Gilroy Police Department.

The suspect, 18-year-old Michael Velasquez, was arrested during a warrant service on the 1200 block of Juniper Drive at 10:50 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Police have been looking for Velasquez, as well as another unknown suspect, since responding to reports of the robbery on March 23.

Three men suffered injuries in the alleged robbery, with one man incurring multiple severe stab wounds, police said last month.

The second suspect, still at large, is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male between 18-19 years old. Police reported him to be between 5-foot and 5-foot-9 with a heavy build, short hair and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing baby-blue basketball shorts and a white T-shirt, according to the release.
