Gilroy Police Investigating Cause of Death of Man Found Unconscious

Gilroy police announced Wednesday that they are investigating the cause of death of Robert Strickland, 43, who succumbed to an injury sustained to a parking lot in mid-March.

On March 15, police received a report of then-unidentified Strickland lying in a parking lot of 8065 Kern Avenue, according to Police Spokesperson Chad Gallacinao. Officers immediately arrived at the scene and found that Strickland required immediate assistance for an extreme head injury.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Strickland may have inadvertently fallen and hit his head on the ground. On March 21, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s office revealed that Strickland had died due to his injury.

The County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Gilroy Police Department are now conducting an investigation into Strickland’s death, said Gallacinao.
