Gilroy Police Investigating Death Of Gilroy Man

Investigators suspect alcohol, drugs may have worsened man's medical condition

The Gilroy Police Department is investigating the death of a man who died due to a medical condition Saturday night.

The Gilroy Fire Department and medical personnel responded to a 9-1-1 call Saturday night to the 1800 block of Vista Del Sur Drive in Gilroy to find the man suffering from a potentially life-threatening medical condition.

According to medical personnel, the man became uncooperative with Gilroy police when they arrived at the scene. The man was then detained and transported to a local hospital where he later died after paramedics tried to revive him as his condition worsened.

The cause of the man’s death is actively under investigation by the Gilroy Police Department, Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office and the county’s District Attorney’s Office.

Investigators suspect that alcohol or drug intoxication may have negatively contributed to the man’s medical condition. The investigation will include an autopsy and blood toxicology.
