Velasquez was set to enter a plea on June 22, but didn't have legal counsel at the time of the hearing.

He was originally being represented by an attorney from the Santa Clara County Office of the Public Defender, but his representative declared a conflict of interest. His case was then moved to the office of the Alternate Public Defender, but the attorney there also declared a conflict of interest.
