Gilroy Teen Arrested for Concealing Weapons

Written by Bay City News:

Two suspects were arrested early Saturday morning in the Prunedale area of Monterey County after they were found with several guns and other weapons, according to sheriff's deputies.

Deputies stopped a vehicle around 1:45 a.m. on Vierra Canyon Road  near state Highway 156 for a mechanical violation, according to the sheriff's office.

The driver and passenger were both acting nervous, and deputies were able to see two knives in the vehicle. While they were watching, deputies also saw the driver allegedly remove a gun from his jacket and place it on the floor in front of him, officials said.

The driver, 19-year-old Prunedale resident Nicholas Christopher Brody, allegedly admitted concealing a 30.06 rifle in the vehicle and placing a concealed handgun on the floor. A search also found him wearing a shoulder holster and carrying loaded ammunition magazines.

A search of the vehicle turned up a .380 handgun under the front seat, a 30.06 rifle and a .22 caliber gun, as well as a black ski mask and a latex mask.

Brody and his passenger, a 17-year-old Gilroy resident, were both arrested on concealed weapons charges. The investigation is ongoing, deputies said.
