Gliroy Meth Trafficker Get 14.5 Years in Prison

On Tuesday, Jan. 29, United States District Judge John A. Mendez sentenced Hector Salazar-Borrayo, 45, of Gilroy, to 14.5 years in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.

According to court documents, on Aug. 19, 2010, investigators searched a house in Gilroy, where they found more than 610 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, which was spread throughout nearly every room in the house. Ledgers were found that detailed the distribution of more than 3,300 pounds of methamphetamine in less than a five-month period.

Salazar-Borrayo is the latest defendant to be sentenced in this case. Sergio Murillo-Valencia was sentenced to 16 years in prison, Fabian Figueroa-Ayala was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison, and Martin Solorio was sentenced to nine years in prison.

Roberto Bermudez-Ornelas is scheduled for sentencing on March 5. Charges are pending against the remaining four defendants: Orlando LaraPenaloza, Joel Lara-Penaloza, Fauso Diaz Lozano, and Jose Francisco Solorio.

This case is the product of an investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, and the California Department of Justice (Cal-MMET).
