Hundreds of Marijuana Plants Seized in Gilroy

One arrested.

Almost 500 unlawfully cultivated marijuana plants were seized Thursday at a residence in Gilroy, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. At about 3:25 p.m., the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Marijuana Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a house in the 1100 block of Apache Court in connection with an unlawful indoor marijuana grow operation, deputies said.

The search warrant yielded 468 marijuana plants and about 70 pounds of processed marijuana. The total street value of the seized marijuana is estimated to be about $608,000, investigators said. Deputies also discovered evidence of unlawful bypassing of power lines at the residence. Tri Tran, 32, was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for suspicion of unlawful marijuana cultivation, possession of marijuana for sale, and theft of utilities, deputies said.

The operation, executed by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Marijuana Enforcement Team, is funded by grant money from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency's Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program.

Well, we are all safer now..... I bet the LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS all went out to a bar for drinks (consumed dangerous CNS depressants) when they were done and then drove home... Perhaps if we legalized and taxed marijuana, growing operations stealing power (which is wrong no matter how you slice it up) such as this would be about as common as home made stills for alcohol.. What a mockery of morals & public money!
