A red Volkswagon Jetta has been linked to the disappearance of missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar.

The association was made based off of investigative review and video surveillance sources who identified the same make and model of the vehicle as being involved in the LaMar case, Sgt. Jose Cardoza of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a prepared statement Monday morning.

Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and its detective division are collaborating with multiple local and federal agencies to conduct follow-up investigations on leads that developed over the course of the investigation.

Some leads came from the . Items of evidence, like .

The state crime lab also examined the items, many of which were determined to not be associated with the LaMar case, such as the on March 29, Cardoza wrote. However, other leads derived from the crime lab's forensic testing have aided the investigation and investigators are currently awaiting additional lab results.

“Information developed by sheriff’s Investigators, supported by forensic examination and county crime lab reports, has assisted in furthering the investigation,” Cardoza wrote. “The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office remains completely focused on locating Sierra LaMar and determining who is responsible for her disappearance.”

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the south county community to call the tip line with any information associated to the vehicle, which may assist detectives in their investigation. Tipsters can call 408-808-4500, the anonymous tip line at 408-808-4431 or shoot an email to tips@sheriff.sccgov.org

The offensive comment we're discussing shows a complete lack of respect for women that permeates ourRead More culture. That this person actually thought this poor young girl had culpability for her attack is a symptom of our societies disregard for women. I'm actually glad he made the comment so we can look at and discuss the problem.

From one of the interviews I watched online, it seems that many Saratoga High students knew whatRead More happened at the party and had seen the pictures. How is it that arrests did not follow the assault and the suicide for over 6 months? Could it be that the students who knew information about the felony chose to remain silent? I hope that is not the case; we will surely find out as the details of the case are revealed in the media over the next weeks and months. In the meantime lets make sure we are teaching our kids about the responsibility of living in community and caring about others. God forbid that any of the students have to live with the knowledge that they could have prevented the suicide, or with the knowledge that they helped cover up such a heinous crime.
