Man Arrested After Fight Leads to Stabbing in Gilroy

Ernest Brazwell was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a male victim in Gilroy early Friday morning, police said.
 
Officers responded to reports of a fight between two males near the intersection of Church and West 10th streets around 12:25 a.m. and found a male victim suffering from several stab wounds, police said. The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening, according to police.
 
Police said evidence gathered at the crime scene and during a subsequent investigation led officers to Ernest Brazwell of Gilroy.
 
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the stabbing and taken to Santa Clara County Jail. Police have not disclosed a motive for the attack but said the crime does not appear to have been gang-related.
