Man Sustains Multiple Stab Wounds After Sunday Assault

A guest of the Motel 6 on Monterey Street was approached by an unknown suspect, who assaulted him and then stole his jacket.

A Sunday morning assault sent a victim to the hospital with multiple stab wounds, said Sgt. Chad Gallacinao of the .

The victim was in the west parking lot of the Motel 6 on Monterey Street at 3:57 a.m. on Sunday morning when the assault occurred.

While the victim was standing in the parking lot, two suspects pulled up in a black Acura. Suspect one, who was the passenger of the vehicle, got out of the car and approached the suspect, and subsequently began to stab the victim with a hunting knife.

The victim attempted to defend himself, but was unsuccessful, according to the Gilroy Police Department press report.

After the stabbing, suspect one took the victim’s jacket, returned to the vehicle and fled northbound out of the parking lot.

The victim suffered multiple laceration and puncture wounds that were severe, but non-life threatening, and was transported to a Bay Area trauma center, Gallacinao said.

Gallacinao said the suspects are described as Hispanic males in their early 20s, wearing dark clothing, and added that a gang connection is currently under investigation.

"It's under investigation, and the motive isn't clear so were determining whether it was gang related also," Gallacinao said.
