Meet Gilroy K-9 Cop Pharaoh

Pharaoh helped stop a burglary at El Roble Elementary School early Tuesday morning and has a long history of catching felons and gang members.

Meet Pharaoh, the Gilroy police German Shepherd who found the three teenagers attempting to burglarize El Roble Elementary School early on March 28.

Pharaoh is 2.5 years old and is owned by Gilroy Police Cpl. Eustaquio “Paco” Rodriguez, who got him from the Czech Republic in late 2011.  

The dog is trained to search and apprehend people.

"He has located numeros subjects, including burglary suspects and armed and dangerous gang members," Rodriguez said in an email to Patch. "He has also assisted in the arrest of multiple violent felons."

Next up for Pharaoh is narcotic detection training.
