Medina had reportedly stabbed the victims, a 19-year-old San Jose man and a 18-year-old Sunnyvale man, after a fight erupted during the house party on Diana Avenue and Hill Road.

Police were dispatched to the area around 3:24 a.m. and found the victims lying in the street with multiple stab wounds.

Officers learned that an argument between two party attendees had prompted the argument, which became physical after it was “taken outside and into the street of Diana Avenue.”

“The suspect ended up being knocked to the ground and when he got up, pulled out a knife and stabbed the first victim—[the] 19-year-old-male from San Jose,” Hoefling states.

Medina then immediately ran after the Sunnyvale victim, stabbing him multiple times in the torso and neck, Hoefling states. Other party-goers had to restrain the victim, who then fled on foot.

Fire personnel and paramedics provided medical attention to the victims, who were transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment. The victims are in serious condition, but are expected to survive, Hoefling states.
