A 27-year-old woman was killed Monday night when her car struck two trees and a fence along a rural road outside Morgan Hill, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman, identified by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office as Casey Pearson, a Morgan Hill resident, was driving south on Watsonville Road near Hayes Lane at about 8:30 p.m. when she drifted onto the shoulder, CHP officials said.

She then tried to maneuver her 2005 Honda to the left, veered across the northbound lane and struck a tree on the opposite shoulder, according to the CHP.

The impact made the Honda turn counter-clockwise, and it struck a fence and a second tree, CHP officials said. Pearson was killed in the crash.
