Murder Suspect Arrested in Gilroy

Police say Juan Ososrio Martinez appeared to be trying to establish himself as part of the community.

After being spotted in Gilroy twice in three days, Juan Osorio Martinez was arrested Thursday.

Martinez has been wanted for a 2011 homicide in San Jose. It was thought before the sightings that he fled the country.

"A community member called to report a sighting of ... Martinez in the 200 Block of IOOF Avenue," Sgt. Pedro Espinoza said.

Officers then positively identified Martinez and took him into custody without incident. Following the arrest, the San Jose Police Department took over the case.

"It appeared Martinez was trying to establish himself as a member of the community," Espinoza said.
