New Communication System Works to Keep Gilroyans Safe
Nixle can send Gilroyans a range of public safety alerts through text, email and other means.
Gilroy Police are going high-tech with Nixle, a new communication system connecting residents to the agencies protecting them.
The system allows Gilroyans to directly receive public safety and at-risk missing juvenile alerts via text message, email, the Internet and by mobile application. Nixle also has the ability to instantly post the information on the GPD's Facebook and Twitter.
"The Gilroy Police Department’s use of Nixle will enhance the department’s ability to alert and notify community members of events occurring within Gilroy," Gilroy Police Sgt. Chad Gallacinao wrote in a prepared statement.
