UPDATED: Police Again Find Marijuana Plants When Responding to Residential Fire

Police found several small marijuana plants in a Church Street garage, the second time this week a fire has yielded discovery of the drug.

On Wednesday evening, police found marijuana plants after responding to wood burning in a Church Street garage.

At 9:57 pm., the Giroy Fire Department responded to a call from a neighbor about a garage fire in a home located on the 6400 block of Church Street.

When the Fire Department arrived, they seized 120 "starter" marijuana plants with a total street value of over $120,000 being cultivated by one of the home’s residents. They also found marijuana cultivation equipment and material. 

Police determined that the first suspect, Khang Hoang, 34, a San Jose resident, intentionally lit fire in the garage.  He was arrested and later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for Cultivation of Marijuana, Sales of Marijuana and Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia. 

Police are not releasing the name of the second subject while they undergo further investigation.This marks the second time in under a week that police have , only to find marijuana being grown. Three residents of a home on Laurel Drive were arrested Friday, and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for cultivation of marijuana, sales of marijuana, and criminal conspiracy.
