Police Uncover 45 Grams of Meth and 100 Grams of Marijuana from Gilroy Home

David Amaya, 31, and Filiberto Jr. Elias, 24, were arrested Thursday morning after law enforcement served a search warrant at their address on Church Street.

David Amaya, 31, and Filiberto Jr. Elias, 24, were arrested on the 6700 block of Church Street for being in possession of Crystal Methamphetamine and Marijuana Thursday morning.

The Gilroy PD’s Anti-Crime Team (ACT) and the United Narcotic Enforcement Team (UNET) served a search warrant to the residence at 7:05 a.m., and observed Amaya throwing 45 grams of meth out a bedroom window while two small children were present, UNET Task Force Commander Rickard Westphasl wrote in a media release.

Officers found Ellias, who was located in the living room, in possession of approximately 100 grams of Marijuana. Ellias also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest, Westphasl wrote.

Amaya and Elias were both subsequently arrested. Amaya was booked for possession of Methamphetamine and indicia for the purpose of sale, and for child endangerment, while Elias was arrested for the felony warrant and for possessing Marijuana for the purpose of sale.

Both have been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail, Westphasl wrote.
