UPDATE: Police Arrest Gilroy Man for Robbing Baskin Robbins at Gunpoint

Todd Pederson was booked on suspicion of two felonies and three misdemeanors related to armed robbery, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, and under the influence. His bail is set at $100,000.

Morgan Hill police have arrested Todd Pederson, 48, of Gilroy, on suspicion of robbing a Baskin Robbins store at gunpoint at 6:52 p.m. Sunday. 

Police responded to an armed robbery in progress at the Baskin Robbins on 230 Cochrane Plaza in Morgan Hill. 

Store employees told officers that a white, male adult dressed in a black shirt and blue hat robbed the store with a hand gun, according to MHPD Spokesman Troy Hoefling. No employees or customers were physically harmed during the robbery.

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money prior to police arrival.

Once on scene, police set up a perimeter around the store and searched the nearby area while additional officers arrived to help locate the outstanding suspect, Hoefling states.

Officers located a man nearby matching the description of the suspect sometime later and detained him without incident.

Witnesses from Baskin Robbins were able to positively identify Pederson as the armed suspect, Hoefling states. 

Pederson was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for two felonies involving armed robbery and possession of a controlled substance, according to Santa Clara County Sheriff Sgt. Jose Cardoza. Pederson was also booked for three misdemeanors related to the possession of a hypodermic needle, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.  

Pederson remains in custody on $100,000 bail and has a court date set for July 5 at 1:30 p.m. A courthouse hasn't been listed for Pederson, but Cardoza said his court appearance will probably be at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill.
