Police Blotter: $1,600 Purse Stolen in 20-Minute Window

Also, thieves keep breaking into coin-op laundry rooms to steal quarters from the washing machines and dryers.

Wednesday, Aug. 28
Car Break-In: A $1,600 purse was stolen from a locked vehicle while it was parked at Pacific West Christian Academy for 20 minutes. The thief shattered a back window on her Cadillac.

Theft: A mini-bike was stolen on Kelton Drive.

Assault and Sexual Battery: Police took the report on Mantelli Drive around 5:10 p.m. No further information was released.

Counterfeit Money: A person used a fake $100 bill at Super Walmart and said the cash came from a Wells Fargo Bank in Hollister. Also, on Monday evening someone used phony $100 to make a purchase at 681 Leavesley.

Domestic Violence: A man assaulted, chocked and pointed a gun at his partner of three years. He was arrested. She suffered several bruises and a broken blood vessel on her right eye.

Shoplifting: Items worth $96 were stolen from Kohl's.

Shoplifting: Two people (possibly planning a party) stole several cases of beer, a mixed bag of chips and a rotisserie chicken from Super Walmart. 
 
Tuesday, Aug. 27
Assault: A couple got into a fight about their relationship and the man allegedly pushed the woman onto the couch. The man, age 35, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. 

Theft: A thief broke into a laundry room and stole the coin box from the coin-operated washing machine. About $50 in quarters were taken. It's the third laundry room theft in Gilroy in August.

Vandalism: Reported on Miller Avenue and also on Sunflower Court.

ID Theft: A thief used the victim's credit card number to make $775 in online purchases. 

Theft: A bracelet and necklace, each worth $3,000, were stolen from a home on Doris Court. The owner blamed the cleaning service.

Shoplifting: A 42-year-old woman was cited for theft from Kohl's. 

Theft: There were fraudulent charges on a credit card. 

Car Crash: A vehicle struck a pedestrian on Tenth Street at Orchard Drive. The pedestrian was hurt and flown to a trauma center for treatment.

Counterfeiting: Eight fake Traveler's Checks were used at the Outlet Stores to buy electronics.

Burglary: A thief broke into the rear detached garage of a home on Fairview Drive and stole several items.
