Police Blotter: Boy Arrested For Pulling Out Counselor's Hair

A look at crime in Gilroy from Dec. 31 to Jan. 7

January 7

7:40 p.m. A juvenile on Ioof Ave kicked a counselor several times in the face and pulled out a large amount of her hair from her head. He bit another counselor, and was arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall.

January 6

6:12 p.m. An unknown male juvenile ran away from the Children’s home on Ioof Ave.

4:20 p.m. An unknown suspect forced entry into a locked vehicle on Monterey Street and stole a purse.

January 5

6:54 p.m. A suspect was arrested for possession of 6.14 grams of methamphetamine at Alexander Street.

5:04 p.m. A driver was stopped for a mechanical violation, and found to be possession of 5.19 grams of marijuana without a medical marijuana card on Carmel Street and Third Street.

January 4

8:37 p.m. Two men (Gabriel Pena, 19, and Roberto Ramirez, 20) shoplifted beer from a Walmart store on Camino Arroyo. They fled in a vehicle, which the GPD located a short time later.

8:30 a.m. Unknown suspects smashed a side window and took items from within the vehicle.

7 a.m. Unknown suspects took the vehicles wallet from her place of employment and used her debit/credit cards to make several purchases and transactions in the Gilroy area.

1 a.m. Suspects broke the glass, damaged the dash and stole the stereo and wheels from the listed vehicles.

12:29 p.m. A male suspect was arrested for parole violation and possession of drug paraphernalia on Church St. and Welburn Ave.

January 3

7:55 p.m. Domestic violence between husband and wife for the past 19 years on Monterey Road. Complaint of pain but no visible injuries.

January 2

8 p.m. Unknown suspects used an unknown means to gain entry into a victim’s vehicle. They stole several items including an iPad and iPod.

4:27 p.m. Two suspects entered the Michael Kors store and stole 12 purses worth approximately $3,000. The suspects fled and were not identified. 

January 1

7:10 p.m. Alicia Ferrari, 212, was hired at Target for the Christmas season and stole cash from the registers totaling $1,370 from Dec. 23 to Dec. 28.

7:41 p.m. A suspect kicked in the victim’s locked front door. He broke a TV and fled from the residence.

5:40 p.m. A 1995 Honda Accord, gold in color with a license plate #3LMW864, was stolen from a 99 Cent store parking lot. 

2:12 a.m. Meghan Nicole Segura, 21, was involved in a car collision on Morningside Circle and fled the scene. The victim followed Segura, and she was arrested for DUI.

Dec. 31

5:23 p.m. A male and female entered Saks Fifth Ave on Leavesley Rd. on #310. The woman selected merchandise and placed it on a table in the store. The man then picked up the merchandise and placed it in his pockets. They both fled, but Loss Prevention was able to retrieve the merchandise from the man prior to leaving. 

11:30 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) entered a residence and stole several shotguns, laptops and cameras. There are no suspects at this time.

9 a.m. An unknown SUV shot out of victim’s garage door panel with a BB gun on Princevalle Street.

Nobody and I mean Nobody hasRead More the right to rape or force a femsle to have sex with her,and then to make matters worse,they posted pictures of her on facebook ! Better we as a community should be asking,what would possess the young guys to do something like this ! That is why We have Our teenagers and kids passwords or no internet period ! As a parent my heart goes out to het and her parents !

The offensive comment we're discussing shows a complete lack of respect for women that permeates ourRead More culture. That this person actually thought this poor young girl had culpability for her attack is a symptom of our societies disregard for women. I'm actually glad he made the comment so we can look at and discuss the problem.

From one of the interviews I watched online, it seems that many Saratoga High students knew whatRead More happened at the party and had seen the pictures. How is it that arrests did not follow the assault and the suicide for over 6 months? Could it be that the students who knew information about the felony chose to remain silent? I hope that is not the case; we will surely find out as the details of the case are revealed in the media over the next weeks and months. In the meantime lets make sure we are teaching our kids about the responsibility of living in community and caring about others. God forbid that any of the students have to live with the knowledge that they could have prevented the suicide, or with the knowledge that they helped cover up such a heinous crime.
