Police Blotter: Four Vehicles Stolen

These are the crime reports for much of September in Gilroy.

Sunday, Sept. 22
DUI: A 53-year-old man was arrested on Monterey Street around 1:40 a.m.

Shoplifting: A woman was cited for stealing art supplies from Walmart.

Burglary: A purse and cash were stolen from a business on Travel Park Circle. The burglar removed a screen and crawled in an open window. 

Vehicle Theft: A Chevy Silverado was stolen from a parking lot on Fifth and Monterey Streets.

Saturday, Sept. 21
Drugs: A 19-year-old man was arrested for having drugs and also for warrants. It happened on Monterey Street around 1 a.m.

Car Burglaries: Two vehicles parked near Monterey and Fifth streets were broken into late Saturday and purses were stolen.

Vehicle Theft: A 1991 black Honda Accord was stolen overnight from IOOF Avenue.

Shoplifting: A 27-year-old woman was ticketed for stealing makeup and napkins from RiteAid.

Drugs: A 34-year-old man was arrested for having drugs on Martin Street around 5 p.m.

Vehicle Theft: An acquaintance took a man's Nissan Pathfinder without his permission and refused to return it. It happened on Camino Arroyo around 3 p.m.

Domestic Violence: A man punched his wife in the mouth. He was arrested. 

Stolen Vehicle: A 1996 Lexus was stolen overnight Rosanna Street. 

Friday, Sept. 20
Pets: A cat owner on Rosanna Street was cited for multiple municipal code violations related to pets.

Theft: Solar panels were stolen from a store on Cameron Boulevard but employees caught the thief, a 23-year-old man.

ID Theft: A thief used another person's information to buy $800 worth of merchandise from Verizon on Hanna Street.

Shoplifting: A 22-year-old man stole whisky from Safeway. He was arrested.

DUI: A 57-year-old man and a 63-year-old man were both arrested at a sobriety checkpoint on First Street around 10:30 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 19
Shoplifting: A man stole a bottle of whisky from the CVS on First Street around 1 a.m.

Kidnapping: A man reported being driven against his will to an isolated area of a park by two people he knew. They stole his phone. 

Vandalism: A neighbor broke a clay pot during an argument on Welburn Avenue.

Shoplifting: Someone stole a basket of items from Safeway.

Marijuana: A student was caught with a "smoking device" and a small amount of marijuana at Christopher High School.

Counterfeiting: A fake $10 bill was used at the Chevron gas station on Leavsley Road. 

Wednesday, Sept. 18
Burglary: A thief tried to break into a locked storage shed on Murray Avenue around noon.

Stolen Car: A Mazda B20 was taken from Jamieson Way and East Luchessa Avenue.

Car Burglary: It happened on Dowdy Street. A wallet and cash were taken.

Theft: A dealer license plate was reported stolen on Chestnut Street.

Assault: An adult child was hit several times by her father while she was trying to leave after an argument at a home on Santa Theresa Drive.

Drunk in Public: A 56-year-old man was arrested on Murray Avenue around 8 p.m.

Drugs: A 39-year-old woman was arrested for having drugs and paraphernalia. She was stopped on Monterey Street just before midnight for driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Tuesday, Sept. 17
Missing Person: An adult from San Jose was reported missing in the Gilroy Outlets. 

Theft: A bike was stolen from an open garage on Gary Street.

Theft: A license plate was stolen from a vehicle on Eschenberg Drive.

Burglary: A burglar kicked in the front door of a Wren Avenue home and stole more than $10,000 in jewelry. It was reported around 3:30 p.m.

Fight: Teenage girls got into a physical fight at the library on East Sixth Street around 3:30 p.m.

Marijuana: A person was ticketed for having pot on Monterey Street around 9:30 p.m.

Domestic Violence: Reported on Parish Way just before midnight.

Car Burglary: It happened overnight on Victoria Drive. A bow and arrows were stolen.
