—By Bay City News Service

A fugitive was captured in possession of a firearm, drugs and burglary tools in Gilroy on Friday afternoon, police said.

The wanted felon, Jacob John Hall, 28, a transient of Gilroy, was arrested when members of the Gilroy Police Department's Anti-Crime Team recognized him outside a residence in the area of Fairview Drive at about 4:45 p.m. on Friday, police said.

Hall attempted to flee from police, but was ultimately captured and subdued, according to officers.

Police found Hall in possession of a loaded firearm, ammunition, heroin, marijuana, narcotics paraphernalia and shaved keys, officers said.

He was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance while carrying a loaded firearm, which is a felony, according to police.

Hall was wanted by police for evading post-release community supervision in Hollister and for evading Gilroy police in an August 2013 vehicle pursuit.

According to police, Hall evaded police custody on two other separate occasions. According to Gilroy police, the department is committed to the monitoring of persons on supervised release to ensure public safety.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding persons who are absconding from parole, probation or post-release community supervision to contact police at (408) 846-0350.
