The new page, launched last week, joins several other city agencies that have found their way to Facebook: City Hall, the Recreation Department, Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Bureau being among them.

Local media has also taken advantage of social media: Gilroy Patch, The Gilroy Dispatch and Gilroy Today each host Facebook pages to help connect with their readers.
