Police Identify Suspects in Child Abduction

Detectives in Morgan Hill have asked for the public's help.

Detectives in Morgan Hill have identified two suspects today in the May 31 abduction of one-month-old Mariana Corona Vidal, according to the Morgan Hill Police Department.

The two suspects, 33-year-old Maribel Mejia of Chualar, CA and Enrique Rocha, were leaving the Reach Out food bank in Morgan Hill as the baby’s mother was going inside.

The mother, Maribel Corona, emerged to find that her car–and her child–were missing. Reports indicated that Corona had left her keys in the car while she went inside.

Authorities recovered both the child and the vehicle in Salinas three hours later, but Corona’s purse remained missing.

It was the following day, June 1, that surveillance footage showed Mejia using Corona’s stolen credit card in Los Banos, accompanied by Rocha and Mejia’s four-year-old son, police said.

A $120,000 arrest warrant has been issued for Mejia for the charges of vehicle theft, kidnapping, child endangerment and possession of stolen property. There is no warrant for Rocha, as police could not positively identify him, according to the release.
