Quickly Vandalism, Drug-Induced Paranoia and Juvenile Party Bust

The following incidents were supplied by the Gilroy Police Department. The arrest information does not indicate convictions.

Gilroy police responded to an assortment of calls from Thursday through Sunday, from car accidents to thefts to vandalism. Here’s a selection from the latest press report.

Sunday, Feb. 19
2:54 p.m.—A vehicle fled the scene after colliding with a bicyclist around the area of 8th and Monterey streets.

1:47 p.m.—Unknown suspect(s) broke the glass doors of a business on Santa Teresa Boulevard and kicked open the door of a vacant office once they were inside. There are no known suspects at this time.

Saturday, Feb. 18
8:17 p.m.—A subject on Grenache Way was cited for domestic violence and child endangerment.

3:29 p.m.—An unknown suspect used two counterfeit $20 bills at a business on Monterey Street between the hours of 3 p.m. on Feb. 16 and 7 a.m. on the 17th. There are no suspect leads at this time.

2:22 p.m.—A stolen trailer was recovered on Chestnut Street.

10:08 a.m.—A suspect reportedly stole $9,500 in 2004 from a trust fund he was supposed to be managing for the victim.

9:12 a.m.—Unknown suspects took a victim’s credit card and used it to purchase items at the Sunglass Hut, Polo and Calvin Klein outlets. The purchases amounted to almost $500 on the victim’s credit card. 

7:16 a.m.—The business Quickly, located at 565 First Street, was vandalized after unknown suspect(s) broke the front windows and threw red paint on the east exterior of the business. In total, the vandal(s) caused $1,200 in damage.

3:30 a.m.—A woman was reportedly slapped and punched in the face by her boyfriend upon arriving home late from dancing. The suspect was taken into custody.

1 a.m.—A woman’s purse was stolen at a bar on Monterey Street after she left it unattended. The purse contained credit cards there were later used to obtain goods from several local businesses. The unknown suspect is still outstanding.

12:25 a.m.—A female under the age of 21 violated  the social host ordinance, after police found her to be hosting a party at her residence where individuals under the age of 21 were consuming alcohol.

Friday, Feb. 17
11:50 p.m.—A man was arrested for reportedly punching a woman in the arm several times as they were driving in a vehicle on Church Street.

10:44 p.m.—A male was arrested around the area of First Street and Wren Avenue after officers found him to be in possession of a stolen Giant Men’s mountain bike. The subject also had an outstanding parole violation warrant.

Thursday, Feb. 16
11:16 p.m.—A man and woman were arrested after police found them to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The pair was contacted after the female reported to police that she was being recorded in her hotel room located on Murray Avenue. Upon arrival, responding officers located the drugs and paraphernalia, which included syringes. They were later released. 

5:10 p.m.—A suspect used counterfeit bills to purchase a laptop from a seller located on Craigslist.
