Real Cuffs Follow Toy Gun

The suspect used a replica gun in a robbery that netted $10.

A man who reportedly tried to rob two victims while wielding a fake handgun on Monterey Street on Friday is now in police custody, according to Gilroy Police spokesman Chad Gallacinao.

The suspect, 19-year-old Troy Kinsey, reportedly pulled the replica on a pair of victims after they refused to hand over their wallets near the intersection of Fifth and Monterey Streets at 10:32 p.m., police said.

One of the victims reportedly handed over $10 to Kinsey shortly before a police patrol drove by. The suspect ran after seeing the car, police said.
