Revived Man Dies After Days in Critical Condition

A San Martin man spent several days in the hospital fighting injuries after a crash on Highway 101 in Gilroy.

After nearly a week in the hospital battling severe injuries from a crash on Highway 101 in Gilroy on Nov. 1, a 78-year-old San Martin man has died.

The man was a passenger along with a 77-year-old San Martin woman in a Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 21-year-old woman. According to CHP Officer Erica Elias, the Pathfinder traveled at a dangerous speed on Leavesley Road approaching the 101 on-ramp.

When the car reached the highway, the driver lost control on the wet road, drifted across all three lanes, spun around and collided with a truck, sending it into the center divider.
