Rifle Fired Into Occupied Motel Room Monday Night

Police are looking for two suspects after obtaining a vague description from the occupants.

Two suspects remain at large after reportedly firing several rifle shots into an occupied room at the King's Rest Motel at 8175 Monterey St. around 10:20 p.m. Monday night, according to a press release from the Gilroy Police Department.

None of the seven occupants were injured, police said.

The  subjects fled the room after the shots came through the front window. Police located three of them, but the others are not suspected to be injured, police said.

Police said they learned from the victims that there had been a 15-minute delay between the incident and the reporting to police, and there was little detail about the suspects.

“Only vague descriptions of their appearance could be obtained,” police said in the report.

Victims told police that the two suspects were of medium build wearing dark clothing, ages 20–25. One was reported as carrying a rifle, according to the release.

The suspects reportedly fled to the rear of the motel, and the weapon has not been found, police said.
