San Jose Cop Arrested on Suspicion of Molesting Two Teen Boys

Gilroy police arrested Patrick D'Arrigo, 44-year-old Gilroy resident.

Gilroy police arrested a San Jose police officer Wednesday on suspicion that he had unlawful sexual contact with two boys at his Gilroy home, according to the Gilroy Police Department and Bay City News.

The officer, 44-year-old Patrick D’Arrigo, was arrested on a $100,000 warrant at the San Jose Police Department's Office of Internal Affairs while he was on duty Wednesday.

D’Arrigo, who lives on the 800 block of Alder Street, was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The suspect was released from the Santa Clara County Main Jail Thursday morning after posting his $100,000 bail, said Sgt. Troy Smith, spokesman for the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office.

Because of the age of the alleged victims, a 15- and 17-year-old Gilroy residents, police said that limited information about the incident will be released.

D'Arrigo has worked for San Jose police since 1994 and has never served on any specialized units, said Jose Garcia, spokesman for San Jose police.

He was one of two officers accused of covering up a drunken-driving crash in March 2008, for which he was placed on administrative leave and then later fired in January 2010. A grand jury declined to indict him, and he was reinstated in December after an arbitrator reversed then-Chief Rob Davis' decision to fire him.

Garcia said San Jose police were aware of the Gilroy police investigation before the arrest.

"When an officer is under investigation for wrongdoing, it's very disheartening, and it's a sad day for not only the police but also for the community," Garcia said. "We'll be the first to say that we'd like to police ourselves and take a strict stance against officers violating that trust and any criminal laws."

D'Arrigo has worked as a campus officer at Leland High School, according to Sherri Greer, a secretary at the San Jose Unified School District Police Department.

Police said there may be other victims who have not reported incidents to police. Any person with information is encouraged to contact Gilroy Police at 408-846-0350.
